Next step, kitchen coutnter tops and appliances.

So, we spent some time getting an order in for granite slabs for a new counter top. A friend at Megan's work has an uncle who is a retired granite fabricator. So we were able to get a good deal. We also bought just the granite through a supplier and got a steal on it. About half price from an original quote from a stone supply store we originally spoke with.

The largest piece is for the peninsula in the kitchen. It was estimated to be between 400 and 500 pounds. So, thank goodness we had a cart to carry it into the house with. The long pieces by the sink will need to be glued together. Exact measurements for the sink couldn't be made on initial template for the counter tops, so that will be cut out in a little while.

Here is the old counter top with the sink out of it. No, we are not just framing the dog calendar.

Not so close up of the sink...

Our peninsula without the old counter top...I hope it can support the granite.

It was quite the trailer set up. Good think that the snow during the night stopped at only a few inches so the counter tops could still be installed. Justin took the day off from work to make sure that he could be there for anything that the contractor needed.

Our old appliances had to be moved out to the garage too. Had to make room for the new ones that will be delivered sometime the same day as the counter tops.

Yes, almost there...time to cut out the kitchen sink. More to follow soon.
