Now on to the photographs we have. This first one is the continuation of our living room remodel. We had an attic access point that a drywall guy came in and patched. Also, that heating vent cover used to be approximately 4 feet closer to the center of the room. It would have been in the way of lighting fixtures, so I moved it. Now it is right above the second garage door that we have. We are also starting to prep a fixture mouting point for a ceiling fan/light combo (the hole in the background). We will need a support bar, a fan rated electrical mounting box, and a 3-ply wire. What fun things we are learning.
Yes! We have paint! Deciding on colors took a few sample jars of paint, but it was worth it. After a few, "yucks;" we were able to get just the right color. So the smaller room that we previously called "the blue room," is now an orange. It only had one window that was under the front door over-hang. So we needed a bright, warm color to help out. I say we definitely got that. Now, I guess we will call it either the orange room of the office.
The larger room started out as the purple room. Now we have gone with a "teal-ish" color. It was close enough to the purple that we didn't need to do any priming. Look at Megan go!
So that was all last week, but on Justin's flex day, October 30th, he harvested more firewood. It took some haggling with a co-worker to actually get his trailer over to our place to borrow, but once we had it, harvesting went faster than last time with the larger capacity. Justin went to a "free use/harvest" area that the forest service had already done a thinning of the forest. So a lot of the tree trunks were limbed and cut down in length. So, the focus was on just getting as much wood home as fast as possible. Four trips later at 3/4 of a cord of wood at a time (Cord=4x4x8 cubic feet), Justin had 3 cords of logs at home where we can take the time we need to cut them down to size.
Combined with that wood previously harvested, I would say we have about 4 cords total. We'll see how much we use in one winter and if the current fire place will get us through without really needing a wood stove.
So this funky photo is actally of the wiring.
So here is some additional photographs of the work done in the attic. The heating duct basically has made a 180 degree turn to where it is now. There is also a close up of the support bar that was put in to mount the fan to. That wire in the above photo is the old power to the fluourescent lights that used to be in the living room.
